Candace Cameron Bure claims cancel culture is out to get her.
“Cancel culture is real, and it’s difficult, and it’s hard,” the “Full House” alum said on the “Unapologetic with Julia Jeffress Sadler” podcast Wednesday, nearly three months after she faced backlash for describing gay marriage as nontraditional.
Cameron Bure, 46, went on to discuss how Christians face prejudice for preaching their beliefs, particularly outside of the US.
“I know there’s all the places in the world, all different countries, where people get severely persecuted for their faith,” she said. “I feel like we’ve had this cushion here in North America where someone yells at us or someone says a mean, negative thing and our feelings get so hurt over it.”
The actress added, “And that isn’t nearly the persecution that other people go through from being a Christian in other countries.”

Cameron Bure said that even in times of controversy, she believes it is important that Christians stick to their beliefs while still approaching others with kindness.
“It’s hard, no matter what. Especially when you are a compassionate person and you have a heart for people,” she said. “But it’s important that we speak truth in love, ’cause, listen, nobody’s gonna change, nobody’s gonna listen to you when it comes out angry, when it comes out in a harsh way, but it’s important that we don’t back down.”
The “Fuller House” star shared how proud she is of her children — Natasha, 24, Lev, 22, and Maksim, 21 — for always “sticking to truth.”
“I am so encouraged by my own children. … I’m so proud of them for really sticking to truth and knowing the gospel and being willing to share that because I know it takes bravery, especially in the time we’re living today,” she continued.
Cameron Bure shares her three kids with her husband, Valeri Bure, whom she wed in 1996.

The former “The View” co-host faced backlash in November 2022 for saying in a WSJ. Magazine interview that Great American Family, the TV network she joined after leaving Hallmark Channel, “will keep traditional marriage at the core.”
Her comments caused outrage, but Cameron Bure stood her ground, claiming in a lengthy statement to Page Six later that month that people were trying to “assassinate [her] character.”
“All of you who know me know beyond question that I have great love and affection for all people. It absolutely breaks my heart that anyone would ever think I intentionally would want to offend and hurt anyone,” she said.
“It saddens me that the media is often seeking to divide us, even around a subject as comforting and merry as Christmas movies. But, given the toxic climate in our culture right now, I shouldn’t be surprised.”
Cameron Bure insisted she loves all people — even those who “hate” her values and were “attacking” her online.
“I have a simple message: I love you anyway,” she said, adding, “To everyone reading this, of any race, creed, sexuality or political party, including those who have tried to bully me with name-calling, I love you.”
Still, the “Dancing With the Stars” alum was dragged by the masses, including JoJo Siwa, Hilarie Burton and even her former “Full House” co-star Jodie Sweetin.

Burton called Cameron Bure a “bigot” amid the controversy.
“I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey,” the “One Tree Hill” actress tweeted. “You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank.”
Burton’s husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, backed his wife, tweeting, “How’d I miss this twit?! Who the f–k is this person? Hey Hil? You’re awesome. We lucky to have ya. X.”
Siwa, who came out as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in 2021, slammed Cameron Bure’s words as “rude and hurtful.”
And Sweetin shaded her former castmate by showing support to Siwa, prompting Cameron Bure to unfollow her on Instagram.
