Kate Hudson claims marrying Chris Robinson at 21 wasn’t ‘impulsive’

Kate Hudson’s decision to wed Chris Robinson at age 21 was not an “impulsive” one.

The actress defended her marriage to the musician on Thursday, telling “The World’s First Podcast” co-hosts, Erin Foster and Sara Foster, that she was “madly in love” at the time.

“I went to New York and I met Chris, and [when] I came home, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m marrying this guy,’” Hudson, 43, recalled. “I was just like, ‘You know what? I’m going to dive right into this.’”

The “Glass Onion” star “chose not to second guess” her choice to walk down the aisle in 2000, saying she was too “in love” to “pretend” to wait.

“I just jump in the deep end of everything I do,” she said. “I just didn’t think twice.”

Before their 2007 breakup, the former couple welcomed son Ryder, now 19.

The Golden Globe winner went on to welcome son Bingham, 11, and daughter Rani, 4, with Matt Bellamy and Danny Fujikawa in 2011 and 2018, respectively — but she credits Robinson with teaching her “what it felt like to be unconditionally loved.”

Hudson called her romance with the Black Crowes rocker, 56, “so important” to her growth.

“Chris, like, completely opened that floodgate for me, forever, no matter how complicated the relationship got at one point,” the Oscar nominee said. “The most important moment for me was meeting him and him allowing me to understand what that felt like.”

The “Almost Famous” star has previously gushed about how “lucky” she is to have amicable co-parenting relationships with Robinson and Bellamy, whom she split from in 2014.

“As much as I would say I don’t recommend it to most, my situation is quite amazing,” Hudson told Laura Wasser on her “Divorce Sucks!” podcast in 2019.

“I was very lucky to have partners in my life, and everyone was a different circumstance, that we were able to figure it out,” she continued. “I do feel that when you get divorced, you know, you’re still in a relationship. It’s just a different kind of relationship.”

Hudson has been with Fujikawa since 2016, with the 36-year-old composer getting down on one knee five years later.

In November 2022, the Fabletics co-creator told Entertainment Tonight that she is “not in a hurry” to wed again.

“I love that man, [but] … the last thing we’re doing right now is planning anything,” she said at the time.
