Leah Remini is learning what it’s like to live without her daughter as the 18-year-old heads to college.

Although Sofia technically started her freshman year in 2022, Remini explained to her Instagram followers Monday that the teen returned home for a brief break before choosing another university.

“In August, our daughter Sofia enrolled in a college she thought was meant for her,” the actress, 52, wrote. “I moved her into a dorm room and came home heartbroken to a quiet house.

“For many reasons, that school didn’t make sense for her,” Remini continued. “So she left, and we got to have her home for a few more months.”

The teenager started at a new school “a few weeks” ago, moving into an apartment away from home.

“You’d think the second time would be easier, but [my husband] Angelo [Pagan] and I are even more of a mess now,” the “King of Queens” alum noted of the “emotional” milestone.

“She’s back at it now, going through all the things a first-year college student should be going through, and we, her parents, are going through what parents like us go through,” wrote Remini, who is a New York University student herself.

“Crying, not knowing what to do with ourselves now other than looking at pictures and videos and crying some more.”

The Emmy winner went on to share her pride in her child for “course correct[ing].”

She gushed, “There’s no sense in sticking to something that doesn’t work for you. In any situation. At any point in your life.”

In the comments section, Pagan, 54, hinted at Sofia’s school, writing, “Now she thinks she’s running NY.”

While he and the “Kevin Can Wait” alum have mostly kept Sofia out of the spotlight since filming their short-lived “It’s All Relative” reality show in 2014, the couple did document their daughter’s prom experience in May 2022.

“Senior year is filled with exciting milestones but it doesn’t make it any less sad for parents when we wonder how time flew by so fast,” Remini wrote at the time, asking her teen to “slow down.”

“Angelo and I couldn’t be prouder of the young woman Sofia is becoming,” the former “The Talk” co-host concluded.

When Sofia graduated later that same month, Pagan wrote that he was “overwhelmed with emotion.”
