There was a sheepnapping in Aspen over the weekend.
One of hotspot Snow Lodge’s signature Scandinavian sheep sculptures, which we hear cost four figures, was nabbed by an overzealous partier this weekend — who somehow walked off with the four legged, life-sized work.
A source tells us that after the unmistakable object went missing, the man did not go on the lamb. Instead, sightings of the wooly beast “started to pop up all over town.”
One photo seen by Page Six shows an unidentified guy just casually walking around the snowy Colorado town carrying the pilfered ewe.
Snow Lodge owner Jayma Cardoso tells us, “I kept receiving texts and DM’s saying ‘We saw a man carrying your sheep.’”
We’re told several good Samaritans set out on a search party to locate the beloved faux creature.
And we further hear that the alleged culprit was caught when it was discovered he’d dropped the sheep at a local FedEx in an attempt to ship it back to his hometown.
A source tells us Aspen police were called, and were able to intercept the sheep just in the nick of time.
Cardoso tells us, “I had to provide a receipt to show proof of ownership. We hope to have [the sheep] released [from police custody] and home with the rest of his herd soon.”
A rep for the Snow Lodge tells us: “We don’t know how Aspen police are choosing to handle the situation. Jayma is just happy that her faux four legged friend has been found.”
Aspen police did not get back to us.
Snow Lodge, the sister venue of Montauk’s popular Surf Lodge, has been a hotspot this winter. Located at the St. Regis, the place has hosted acts including the Chainsmokers, Zedd, Diplo and Anderson Paak, as well as attendees including Gigi and Bella Hadid, Elizabeth Olsen and model Alessandra Ambrosio.
Over the weekend, Gerard Butler, Lance Armstrong, Drew Taggart of the Chainsmokers and Airbnb founder Joe Gebbia were spotted.
